If you've spent anytime browsing the Links & Likes section of this page, you may have noticed a friend of ours by the name of Russ Pate. Russ is a graphic artist who lives just a few doors down from me and Crystal. He and I have gotten together a couple times now to take photographs, and it's always fun. We both love cities and, particularly, we both share a strong desire to see Augusta, GA with a flourishing downtown.
Naturally, given Russ' passion for creating urban community, when he asked to get some shots of him for his newly redesigned website, both of our minds went to downtown Augusta. On a Monday evening, we drove all of 1.5 miles to get to the heart of downtown Augusta (the small heart, but the heart nonetheless), and took a series of photos with an Augusta backdrop.
This project also stretched my creative processes. Russ and I discussed the style of portraits he wanted, and this is what I came up with. You may notice that the editing (filters, colors, composition) isn't what I've typically done in the past, as evidenced in the photos on the rest of this site. It was a good stretch for me, and, more importantly, he's happy with the result. I always enjoy having other artists around to help push and grow one another.
Here are a few of the photos we took, but you're likely to find others soon on his webpage (www.russpate.com)
